Within the complexity of aesthetic considerations in the context of self-built houses under economic constraints such as in the Gaza Strip, formal aspects of architecture are shown to have limited application in relation to the self-building process. This picture shows simple behaviours to improve the appearance of exterior walls within the physical environment of self-built houses, by having paints added to them in Beit Lahia, the Gaza Strip.
